Funeral ceremonies
Planning the funeral for someone you love can be incredibly difficult - and daunting. But that’s where I can help. As your chosen funeral celebrant, my role is to provide support, advice and comfort every step of the way, crafting a ceremony as unique as your loved one was.
As a civil celebrant, I am not attached to any church, religion or belief system. The ceremonies I create and deliver are guided entirely by the family I am working with and can be non-religious or semi-religious, depending on the family’s and/or the deceased’s wishes.
Upon request, I am more than happy to make room for religious elements in my ceremonies. The eulogies (often referred to as “tributes”) I write and deliver can be complemented by biblical and other faith-led readings, hymns and prayers. The choices will always be that of the family, but I can step in and offer suggestions if needed.
I am also happy to create and lead ceremonies that do not include any religious content. In this instance, together, we can explore other options, such as weaving your loved one’s favourite songs, fitting poetry, visual tributes, modern readings and more into the ceremony.
Whether you’re planning a cremation, burial or woodland burial, this flexibility allows me to craft a unique and truly personal ceremony every time. A ceremony that reflects and honours the person who’s life and lasting legacy we are remembering and celebrating.
Scattering of ashes ceremonies
Scattering ashes is a profoundly moving way to say goodbye, offering a moment of reflection and connection as you return your loved one’s earthly remains back to nature. As your chosen funeral celebrant, I write and deliver carefully-chosen words of remembrance and comfort to bring meaning and significance to this symbolic act.
The scattering of ashes ceremonies I create and deliver can be held a time and place that feels fitting for you - whether that be in the privacy of your own garden, at your loved one’s favourite outdoor spot, at a family grave, in a garden of remembrance, at a natural burial site, or even at sea.
For families looking to inter (bury) their loved one’s ashes, I also offer ceremonies at cemeteries, at natural burial sites, or on private land.
While you gather with those who mean the most at your chosen location, we will remember your loved one’s life and character through memories and stories, celebrating the lasting legacy they leave behind.
Memorial services
Memorial services offer a chance to gather and remember someone special at a location and at a time that feels right. Whether you envision a quiet tribute or a larger celebration, I will work with you to create and deliver a unique ceremony that pays tribute to your loved one and the unique life they led.
Held sometime after your loved one’s passing, without a coffin present, these ceremonies offer the space to reflect, share memories and celebrate their life at a time and place of your choosing.
Whether you envision an intimate and peaceful gathering or a large and vibrant celebration, I will work closely with you to craft a ceremony that truly honours your loved one, weaving together words and other meaningful content that reflects their life and lasting legacy.
At the heart is a deeply personal eulogy - shaped by the stories that made them who they were - which can be complemented by music, readings, poetry, moments for prayer and other symbolic acts. The choice is always yours.
Celebration of life ceremonies
Celebration of life ceremonies provide a unique and deeply personal opportunity to gather those closest to you and celebrate your life while you're still here. With your guidance, I will craft and deliver your final tribute, telling your life’s tale, sharing your cherished memories and ensuring your voice shapes how you are remembered.
Whether it’s a chance to say goodbye, express gratitude, or simply revel in the love and connection of family and friends, these ceremonies are filled with warmth, storytelling and joy.
Unlike funerals, celebration of life ceremonies (sometimes referred to as ‘living funerals’) are, in nearly all cases, vibrant and positive events that honour your time on this earth in the way you wish to be remembered.
I work closely with individuals to craft a ceremony that truly reflects their personality, values, life experiences, achievements and contributions.
Through meaningful words, along with music, readings, moments for prayer and symbolic acts (if requested), I help bring your life story to the forefront, ensuring your voice, spirit and lasting legacy shine through.
Eulogy writing
Writing a eulogy for someone you love is a privilege, but it can be an overwhelming task. How do you sum up a life in words? How do you express all the love and gratitude you feel in your heart in so many paragraphs? For families struggling to put pen to paper, I craft heartfelt and fitting eulogies that capture the essence of their loved one’s character - and tell the story of their life in a way that feels authentic and true.
I work with families who are planning their loved one’s funeral, as well as individuals who are planning their own farewells ahead of time.
During a virtual meeting, I will gently guide you in sharing memories, stories and special moments, as well as your thoughts and requests around the tone and length of the eulogy.
Together, using words that feel right to you, we will piece together the story of their life, shining a light on all the things that made them them and the lasting legacy they leave behind.
Once the eulogy is written, you will have time to review it and request any adjustments before approving the final version. The finished piece will be emailed to you, ready for you or a chosen speaker to deliver at your loved one’s funeral.
